Project overview
In July 2023, Ask Renewable Solutions installed a Solfit roof-integrated solar system on a new self-build property in Ormskirk. The project comprised eight landscape-mounted panels, chosen to deliver strong performance while maintaining architectural harmony with the home’s design.

Roof type & build context
The property featured a standard pitched “up-and-over” concrete tile roof. The homeowner wanted a clean, modern integrated look rather than a traditional on-roof system, making Solfit a natural fit for both aesthetic and practical requirements.

Why Solfit was selected
The installer and homeowner assessed alternative integrated solutions, including GSE, but both ultimately preferred Solfit. Key reasons included:

  • Availability of a landscape option, offering greater flexibility for the roof layout
  • A superior aesthetic, with seamless lines between the panels and surrounding tiles
  • A cleaner, more refined finish that complemented the architectural style of the self-build

Installation experience
With 20 years’ experience installing solar, and having worked with most in-roof systems, the installer found Solfit “very easy and simple to put together and to tile in.”  The streamlined component set and intuitive interlocking design contributed to a smooth installation process.

Outcome & ongoing use
This project was the installer’s first Solfit system, and they have since completed five more, with additional projects planned.

"We’ve installed many integrated solar systems over the years, and Solfit is by far one of the easiest and cleanest to work with. The landscape option and seamless finish made it the clear choice for our customer, and we’ve already gone on to install several more."
